It started with a sheet of steel
REX started in 2012 as a Belgian family business making profiled steel sheets. Today it runs insulated panel lines in Tournai and is part of Recticel Group. This is how that happened.
2012
From sheets to panels
REX Panels & Profiles was founded in 2012 on a two-hectare site in Tournai, Belgium, producing profiled steel sheets for roofs and walls.
Demand for insulated panels was rising fast, and in the spring of 2013 the decision was made to invest in a sandwich panel line. This was a major project for a company barely a year old, made possible with support from the European Union and the Walloon Region.
In May 2015 that line started up on a second site of four hectares. It was built to run roof panels, eco panels, and wall panels with visible and concealed fixing; cold store and roof tile panels followed later. One line, an unusually wide range. This flexibility still defines how REX works.

2024
Joining Recticel Group
On 10 January 2024 Recticel Group completed the acquisition of REX Panels & Profiles. It was the Group’s second major step towards a pan-European position in insulated panels, after acquiring Trimo in April 2022, and it doubled the Group’s insulated panel capacity to 8 million m².
For REX it meant keeping the way it works – short lines, fast service – while gaining access to the research, sustainability programme and technical resources of a European group.
